Is Audible Worth It In 2021?

I have had Audible for a little while now, and I have been gathering my thoughts on it. In this blog post, I will be sharing my honest opinions if I think it’s worth it for you to get an Audible subscription.

Books are expensive. Especially when you read and listen to them daily. Even if you don’t, they are still costly. Say you read two books a month, if you were to buy those books outright, it would cost more than the Audible Premium Plus membership, which you can listen to unlimited books with.

On Audible, there are two membership options, Audible Plus and Audible Premium Plus. Audible Plus is $7.95, and the Audible Premium Plus is $14.95 every month. I started with the Audible Plus membership but quickly upgraded to the Audible Premium Plus membership. The Audible Plus membership includes a catalog of books in your membership. With the Audible Premium Plus membership, you get access to the catalog included with the plus membership and one title a month from the premium selection.

Although I have really enjoyed my Audible subscription, I do wish a credit or two more were granted every month. I seem to run through audiobooks, and regular books like water, so one credit isn’t much. Although with the Audible Premium Plus subscription, you have access to the plus catalog of books, it seems like when I’m dying to read a particular title; it’s not available in the plus catalog…figures. If you run out of credits, you can purchase more, but that is an added expense.

What subscription would I recommend? Before you decide to pay for it, try the free trial! Audible offers a free trial that allows you to try it out before committing to pay for it. During the free trial, look at what is available in the plus and premium catalog and decide if having access to the premium membership is worth it for you.

I would not say that Audible replaces my physical books because of the limit of the one credit and the physical book experience. There’s nothing like sitting down with a good book in your hands and turning the page. Audible is a great supplement to my reading, allowing me to get through more books and have some entertainment when it is not appropriate to read a physical book, like driving.

Final Thoughts

All in all, If you are considering getting audible, I would definitely recommend it. And remember, Audible offers a free trial, so you can see if you want to commit to paying for it! Even if you aren’t an avid reader, Audible has such a wide selection; I’m sure there is something for you!
